Some of our teas are certified organic in Japan under the JAS standard (Japan Agricultural Standard), while others are grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers but are not officially certified. Both follow organic or equivalent farming practices — the difference is paperwork, not quality.
Getting certified requires significant cost and administrative effort for tea producers, so some small farms choose not to go through the process even though their teas are truly organic in practice.
In Canada, the term “organic” on product labelling requires certification recognised by the Canadian government. As a small business, we haven’t completed that process yet. However, all teas listed below are either JAS-certified or grown using equivalent methods in Japan.
