Kukicha | くき茶
$10.00 – $25.00Price range: $10.00 through $25.00
Premium kukicha, crafted with sweetness in mind.
Kukicha is made from the stems and twigs sorted out during the refining process of sencha. Often considered a secondary byproduct, these stems actually contain higher concentrations of L-theanine — the amino acid responsible for tea’s natural sweetness and calming effects — compared to the leaves themselves, and lower caffeine too. The result is a lighter, clearer cup with a gentle glassiness.
This is another beautiful blend by Mr. Ishida — the tea master behind our Saemidori. As always, sweetness is guaranteed. He combines stems from two cultivars — Saemidori from Kagoshima and Yabukita from Shizuoka — using only first flush material of the highest quality.
The crisp, clean, smooth character typical of kukicha is all there, but with a richer body and a longer, lingering sweetness that makes it something you genuinely look forward to. Easy to drink and lower in caffeine — a great choice for the morning, or anytime you want something smooth and gentle.
